The fallout from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal national football team and Morocco national football team has reportedly led to the removal of another senior figure within African football’s governing body.

Following the recent dismissal of Olivier Safari Kabeni as chairman of the referees’ committee, reports now indicate that Yacine Othman Robleh has also been relieved of his duties.

Robleh, a Djiboutian official who had served for six years as president of the judicial body of the Confederation of African Football, was reportedly dismissed by the organisation’s secretary general, Véron Mosengo-Omba.

The information was reported by Elbotola, citing a source within the body who requested anonymity.

According to those reports, the decision was finalised at the end of last week and is linked to the disciplinary measures taken after the final played on 18 January in Rabat.

The sanctions imposed in the aftermath of the match sparked significant debate within the African football community.

Central to the controversy were the penalties handed to Senegal, which some observers considered too lenient given the incidents during the final.

These included a temporary withdrawal of players that led to a suspension of the match, as well as disturbances in the stands.

In the immediate aftermath, speculation had suggested far harsher consequences could follow, including the possibility of Senegal being stripped of their continental title or even excluded from the 2026 World Cup.

Those outcomes did not materialise, but the debate surrounding the handling of the case has continued to reverberate.

In the interim, it is understood that Cédric Igai, currently director of legal affairs, will oversee ongoing matters.

This includes investigations related to reported irregularities during the Champions League fixture between Al Ahly and AS FAR.

The developments underline the lasting impact of the 2025 final, with governance decisions now under scrutiny as CAF seeks to manage the consequences of one of the most contentious matches in recent memory.
