AC Léopards Dominate Coton Sport to Secure Semifinal Spot in CAF Cup
Coton Sport de Garoua suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat against AC Léopards de Dolisie in their Group A clash on Saturday, dealing a significant blow to the Cameroonian side’s hopes in the CAF Cup.
After a goalless first half, the Congolese team came out with renewed energy in the second period. Kader Bidimbou opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and went on to complete a hat-trick with goals in the 72nd and 83rd minutes. Midfielder Césaire Gandzé also contributed to the rout by adding a third goal for AC Léopards, sealing their place in the semifinals.
Despite the loss, Coton Sport had already secured qualification with 10 points at the top of Group A. The other two teams, Real Bamako and ASEC Mimosas, are eliminated, with Mali’s Real Bamako holding 4 points and ASEC Mimosas sitting at the bottom with 2 points.
The final group game will see ASEC Mimosas face Real Bamako on Sunday, although neither side can progress further in the competition.
