Kaizer Chiefs captain and goalkeeper Brandon Peterson has described the final group-stage clash against Zamalek in the CAF Confederation Cup as both challenging and pivotal.
Speaking in a television interview, Peterson emphasized the stakes: “This is a very important game for us. We know what’s at stake and the history we can make. The players are ready and motivated. We understand Zamalek’s style, so it will be a tough match, but we are well prepared.”
On Zamalek’s strengths, he added: “They are a strong team, very physical, and cover a lot of ground. Playing them in Egypt won’t be easy, especially with Al Masry still in the mix for qualification. Zamalek will need a win to secure their spot, while our goal is to finish top of the group and set ourselves up for the next round.”
Reflecting on Kaizer Chiefs’ group-stage campaign, Peterson noted: “We began with a loss to Al Masry but are now leading the group going into the final match. This shows that what counts most is how you finish, not how you start. The team has performed exceptionally, and our preparation for the concluding games has been solid. The path hasn’t been easy, but our focus remains on advancing.”
He concluded by looking ahead to Saturday’s showdown: “Zamalek is the only team between us and the next stage. When match day comes, we will be ready for a strong and memorable encounter.”
