Olympic Club Safi head coach Chokri Khatoui has praised his players’ discipline, courage, and tactical intelligence after a hard-fought performance that secured qualification against top opposition in front of a packed stadium.

Olympic Safi will be hosted at the Stade du 5 Juillet in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals on Saturday, April 11.

Reflecting on the contest, Khatoui admitted the magnitude of the challenge but stressed that his side never abandoned their identity.

“We faced one of the best teams in Africa, in front of a large crowd. We came here to play our style of football and do what was necessary to qualify.”

Rather than sitting deep or relying on counter-attacks, the coach revealed that his game plan was built on intensity and proactive pressing — a strategy that paid dividends, particularly in a dominant first-half display.

“We didn’t drop back to defend or play solely on the counter-attack. We pressed hard and caused problems for the opposition, especially in the first half.”

The coach was full of praise for his squad’s mentality, highlighting their ability to follow instructions under pressure and maintain focus throughout a demanding encounter.

“The players showed great mental strength and followed instructions. This qualification is well deserved.”

The result marks another significant step forward for Olympic Safi in their continental campaign, underlining their growing confidence and tactical maturity on the African stage.

Kick off for the game is scheduled at 16:00 GMT.
