The head coach of Pyramids FC, Krunoslav Jurcic, was full of praise for his players on Saturday after a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in the first-leg meeting of the CAF Champions League final.
Pyramids showed a lot of character on the matchday to hold the South African giants to a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
Speaking in a post-match interview, coach Krunoslav Jurcic said he is proud of his players for a top performance against Sundowns.
“I am very proud of my team’s performance against a strong opponent like Sundowns, who have a lot of experience in the CAF Champions League,” Jurčić said during the press conference.
He continued, “Pyramids played a very strong match and were the better team for most of the match. If it weren’t for bad luck, we would have scored many more goals. But in the end, Walid El Karti’s goal in the final minutes is a reward for this champion team with such a great character.”
Coach Krunoslav Jurcic wants his team to go into the second game with a winning mentality to overcome Mamelodi Sundowns to clinch the CAF Champions League title.
The reverse fixture of the tie will eb played on June 1 at the Air Defense Stadium.
