Veteran Pyramids forward Dodo Elgabas is expecting a tough challenge from Mamelodi Sundowns in the finals of this season’s CAF Champions League.
Dodo and the Egyptian club will face off with the South African outfit in the first leg of the final this weekend.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Dodo Elgabas said that although Pyramids FC are used to South African football after beating Orlando Pirates in the semi-final, he expects the showdown with Mamelodi Sundowns to be tougher.
“I think we had a very good game against Pirates, we know South African football, it’s technical players, we know they like to play football on the ground, we played Orlando last month, we had a game against Sundowns, we’re used to this football,” Elgabas said.
He continued, “Maybe it’s an advantage we played against Orlando, I don’t know, they are two big teams, but Sundowns has more experience in competitions like this, and I think they play a bit different type of football. They both play good football, but everyone has their own tactics. I think Sundowns will be harder.”
The first leg of the CAF Champions League final between Mamelodi Sundowns and FC Pyramids will be played on Saturday, May 24.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 pm.
Both teams will be eager to bag all three points to take an advantage into the reverse fixture.
