Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurcic, has declared his outfit readiness for the upcoming CAF Champions League clash against RS Berkane, stressing that the encounter will be a stern examination for his team.
Pyramids travels to Berkane on Saturday night, where they will face the Moroccan outfit at the Municipal Stadium. The fixture marks the third round of the group stage and is expected to have a major impact on the race for first place in the group.
At the pre-match press conference, Jurcic highlighted the quality of their opponents and the added challenge of playing away from home.
“Renaissance Berkane is a strong competitor with great potential, and they play on their home ground and in front of their fans. There is competition between the two teams for the top spot in the group, so the match is difficult, and Pyramids always plays to win, no matter the circumstances,”
The Pyramids technical director also provided insight into his team’s preparations ahead of the trip, noting that the squad had taken advantage of a training camp abroad to fine-tune their readiness.
“Pyramids prepared well for the match with an external camp in the UAE and recently regained its international players after the end of their participation in the African Cup of Nations, despite the absences, most notably Mohamed Hamdi, the international left-back.”
Jurcic underlined that his players have travelled to Morocco with a clear objective — to claim maximum points and strengthen their position in the competition.
“The team is fully prepared and came to Berkane to play for the win, return with the three points, maintain the top spot in the group, and take a bigger step towards qualifying for the quarter-finals.”
He also referenced the recent history between the two sides, recalling their meeting in the African Super Cup earlier in the season. That encounter, which Pyramids won, served as a reminder of how closely matched both teams are and how well they know each other.
According to Jurcic, this familiarity will only add to the difficulty of the contest, as neither side will be caught by surprise.
“I always trust the players and they always live up to my expectations, and their goal is always to maintain the club’s position at the top of African competitions.”
Heading into the match, Pyramids FC sit atop Group A of the CAF Champions League with six points from their opening two fixtures, putting them in a strong position as they seek to extend their winning start.
