Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurcic has emphasized his team’s determination to secure progression to the next stage of the CAF Champions League ahead of their clash with RS Berkane.
The Egyptian side will host the Moroccan outfit on Sunday at the Air Defense Stadium in the fourth round of the continental competition.
Speaking to the media, Jurcic acknowledged the challenge posed by Berkane, highlighting the quality of their players and coaching staff.
“Facing the champions of the Champions League against the Confederation Cup winners is always tough,” he said.
“But our goal remains clear: to win, collect three points, and secure qualification, while also aiming to challenge Berkane for the top spot in the group.”
The Croatian tactician noted that both teams are now highly familiar with each other’s style, making the match especially demanding.
“Mistakes cannot be afforded, as every point is crucial for qualification. Still, we approach the game with confidence and ambition, ready to secure our spot despite the pressures we face domestically and continentally.”
Jurcic also addressed what he described as growing scrutiny on Pyramids and himself.
“It seems that there are those who do not want Pyramids to win the championships of last year, which were achieved recently, and Jurcic’s expulsion has become the main goal of any referee and a “target” for referees, even if the objection to the referee’s decision is logical, which has become clear in all the recent matches, specifically in the league.”
