South African winger Percy Tau has rejoined the squad in preparation for their upcoming CAF Champions League encounter against Medeama SC in Ghana.
Tau’s return follows his notable contribution to South Africa’s third-place finish in the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
The Bafana Bafana star resumed training with his Al Ahly teammates on Monday and Tuesday at the club’s Gezira complex.
Alongside Tau, Wessam Abou Ali and Ahmed Nabil Kouka, both recovering from injuries, also participated in the training sessions, indicating a positive development for the Egyptian giants.
Al Ahly, the reigning African champions, are set to depart Cairo on Wednesday en route to Accra before making their way to Kumasi for the crucial clash scheduled for Friday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Currently leading Group D with six points, Al Ahly aims to maintain its position after a goalless draw against Algerian club CR Belouizdad in the previous week.
Medeama SC, on the other hand, seeks redemption following their recent defeat to Young Africans. The Ghanaian side will host Al Ahly in Kumasi, hoping to secure a positive result against the formidable Egyptian team.
The upcoming encounter promises an intense battle as both teams vie for supremacy in the CAF Champions League.
