Former Al Ahly star, Ahmed Abu Muslim, beleives Marcel Koller could be sacked as the head coach of the club should the Egyptian suffer elimination from the CAF Champions League.
In the first leg at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday, Ahly’s first leg against Sundowns ended goalless.
The Red Devils, who are aiming to defend their Champions League title, will host the South African powerhouse at the Cairo International Stadium in the return leg on Friday, April 25.
However, Muslim says he is not even hopeful that his former side will progress past Sundowns in the semi-finals, and if that turns out to be the case, Koller will be dismissed.
According to Btolat.com, Muslim responded when asked about the upcoming two-legged clash against Masandawana: “I’m not optimistic, and without a doubt, Koller’s future hinges on the next two games and winning the league.
“Any failure in these will see him leave.
“If Koller wins both, he will stay, because we Egyptians forget quickly. If he wins two titles, people will forget everything, and on paper, he will be seen as successful.
“But if he loses to Sundowns, there’s an 80% chance he will be out of Al Ahly,” he added.
Kick off for the return leg is scheduled for 16:00 GMT.
