CAF Champions League: Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso not counting on home advantage ahead of Al Ahly
Head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns Miguel Cardoso is not counting on home advantage ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly.
The South African giants will play host to the Egyptian powerhouse on Saturday in a highly competitive semifinals clash.
Sundowns will travel to Egypt to face Al Ahly in the return clash on April 25, 2025.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Cardoso stated that such an advantage or disadvantage is relative, as it all depends on the outcome of the first match, regardless of where it is played.
“Obviously, the advantage or disadvantage of playing at home or away is relative, because it also largely depends on the result of the first match. If we can achieve a positive result without conceding, for instance, it will put pressure on them, because at any moment with our goal in the away match it can become very difficult to handle, especially if we score at home as well,” Cardoso stated.
Al Ahly have already arrived in South Africa for the much-anticipated clash this weekend.
