Pyramids FC have dealt with a huge setback ahead of their CAF Champions League final games against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Despite keeping their chances of winning the Egyptian topflight alive, head coach for the side, Krunoslav Jurčić, had to leave out star striker Fiston Mayele, who picked up an injury in the warm-up.
Mohand Lasheen, Ramadan Sobhi, and Mostafa Fathy were also ruled out through injury, and it remains to be seen if they will be fit for the first leg on Saturday.
Despite the injury crisis, Pyramids were able to get the job done with Mayele, as Marwan Hamdy bagged a brace in the second half to seal maximum points.
The win sees Pyramids remain two points behind league leaders Al Ahly, who also secured a win on Saturday evening against National Bank of Egypt.
Pyramids will now have the entire week to prepare for the first leg of the CAF Champions League final against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versfeld, on May 24, with kick off scheduled at 13:00 GMT before the return leg at the 30 June Stadium, on June 1, with kick off scheduled at 17:00 GMT.
