Pyramids FC coach, Krunoslav Jurcic says he is unhappy despite his side’s qualification to the semifinals of the CAF Champions League.
The Egyptian side suffered a 2-0 loss in the return leg on Tuesday. However, they are through to the last four on 4-3 aggregates.
“The circumstances surrounding the match, the absences, and the crowd pressure negatively affected the players,” Jurcic told the press after the game.
He emphasized that his team’s qualification was a surprise to the fans, adding, “But we qualified thanks to determination and perseverance, and we placed Pyramids among the continent’s elite. Our goal is to win the championship.”
“It is not easy for any team to lose three of its most important players and key elements in the starting lineup against a strong team like the Royal Army, playing on its home ground and among its fans.”
He explained that the absence of Ibrahim Adel, who scored two goals and made one in the first leg, was difficult, as were Ramadan Sobhi and Platini Toure, who are two of the most important players.
“It was natural for the performance to decline somewhat, but the goal is clear now, and our goal is to win the cup.”
