Al Ahly SC, ahead of their CAF Champions League quarter final game against Simba SC, faces a setback following an injury to key man Emam Ashour.
Al Ahly will likely be without Emam Ashour, their dynamic midfielder, due to a shoulder injury sustained during Egypt’s friendly against New Zealand last night in Cairo.
This injury could potentially require surgery, adding to Al Ahly’s woes as they already miss Mali international Aliou Dieng due to an ankle injury.
The absence of Ashour and Dieng poses a significant challenge for Al Ahly, as both players play pivotal roles in the team’s midfield.
However, Al Ahly still has quality replacements in Marwan Attia, Amr El Solaya, and Karim Nedved, who are capable of stepping up to fill the void left by the injured duo.
Despite these setbacks, Al Ahly remains determined as they prepare to face Simba in Tanzania.
The Red Devils will need to rely on their depth and resilience to overcome the absence of key players and secure a positive result in the first leg of the quarter-finals.
The first leg of the tie will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam next Friday with the kick-off set for 18:00 GMT.
