Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC have written to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone their upcoming match against Ghanaian champions Medeama SC, the club announced.
According to the statement released on Wednesday evening, Al Ahly contingent have been disrupted up on their arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The defending champions say the plane carrying the delegation from Accra to Kumasi to face Medeama for emergency reasons forced the plane not to complete the journey.
The flight landed at the Accra airport to refuel. However, a gastric collided with the front of the flight, causing a malfunction, causing it not being able to fly the Al Ahly team to Kumasi.
Efforts to get another domestic flight to complete their trip to Kumasi proved futile, forcing the team to spend the night in Accra.
As per the rules and regulations of the CAF Champions League, Al Ahly are expected to train at the match venue on Thursday, but that seems impossible atd the moment.
The record-winners of the competition have since reached out to CAF, asking for the fixture that is scheduled for Friday at the Baba Yara Stadium to be postponed to the next day.
