Al-Ahly midfielder Marwan Othman described the team’s 1-1 away draw against Tanzanian side Young Africans as a positive outcome, highlighting the challenges surrounding the match and the squad’s determination to compete for the championship.
Othman noted that the game was played under tough conditions, with high temperatures and humidity in Tanzania compounded by a congested fixture schedule, which affected the players’ stamina.
He added that Al-Ahly improved significantly in the second half and came close to claiming victory, had they converted their scoring opportunities.
The midfielder stressed that while the tight schedule naturally takes a toll, the team managed the difficult circumstances well and secured a valuable point, keeping them atop Group B with eight points.
Othman also expressed his gratitude to Al-Ahly fans who traveled to the “Amani” Stadium in Zanzibar, noting that their unwavering support provides a major morale boost for the players.
He concluded by reaffirming his ambition to win all titles with Al-Ahly, particularly the CAF Champions League, and vowed that the team will continue to fight until the end to reward their fans’ loyalty.
