CAF Awards 2025: Finalists for Coach of the Year revealed

The finalists for the 2025 CAF Coach of the Year award have been confirmed.

Cape Verde’s Bubista, Morocco’s Mohamed Ouahbi, and Morocco’s Walid Regragui will compete for the prestigious honour.

Bubista has emerged as one of Cape Verde’s most celebrated coaches.

He guided the Blue Sharks to a historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, cementing his reputation on the African stage.

Pedro Leitão Brito returned to the national team in August 2022, after an earlier spell in 2020, and has overseen a remarkable period for the squad.

In 2025 alone, Cape Verde under Bubista’s leadership recorded five wins, four draws, and three defeats, demonstrating resilience and tactical prowess.

His work has firmly placed him among the continent’s coaching elite.

Mohamed Ouahbi has made waves in youth football this year.

He steered Morocco’s U20 side to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations before leading the team to victory at the U20 World Cup in Chile.

Ouahbi’s achievements highlight his ability to nurture young talent and compete on a global stage.

His performance in 2025 confirms why he remains a strong contender for CAF’s top coaching award.

Walid Regragui, who reached the CAF Awards final in 2024, returns as a nominee this year.

The Morocco coach has continued to deliver results, guiding his team through a successful 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.

While preparing for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Regragui has maintained his squad’s high performance levels, showcasing tactical discipline and leadership.

CAF will announce the winner of the Coach of the Year award during the 2025 CAF Awards ceremony.
