Borussia Dortmund are being linked with a move for Alverca centre-back Bastien Meupiyou, with the highly rated defender rumoured to be on the Bundesliga club’s radar ahead of the summer window.

The 20-year-old, who holds both French and Cameroonian nationality, is currently valued at €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt, and has emerged as one of Liga Portugal’s more intriguing young defensive prospects. Reports in Portugal and Germany suggest Dortmund are tracking his situation closely, although the probability of the move is currently listed as “?” and there has been no indication of an agreed fee.

Meupiyou, a left-footed centre-back standing at 1.91m, plays for FC Alverca in Portugal, where he wears the number 33 shirt. His contract details have not been made public and no expiry date is listed, leaving open the possibility that he could move as a free agent if his deal has quietly run down. That uncertainty is seen as a potential opportunity for Dortmund, who have frequently targeted emerging talents from across Europe.

Born in Paris on 19 March 2006, Meupiyou has developed a reputation as a physically imposing defender comfortable operating on the left of a central pairing. Registered as a “Defender – Centre-Back”, he is viewed as fitting the profile of a modern ball-playing stopper, although no formal approach from Dortmund has been confirmed.

In his latest outing for Alverca in Liga Portugal, Meupiyou featured in a tightly contested fixture earlier this spring, contributing to a solid defensive display in a narrow scoreline against domestic opposition, underlining why his performances are drawing attention at higher levels.

With his market value still relatively modest at €4.00m and his contractual situation unclear, Meupiyou’s future remains open, and a move to Dortmund – if it materialises – could represent a significant step that shapes his career trajectory and reputation on the European stage.
