Burnley open talks to sign Wycombe Wanderers striker Dominic Udoh

Burnley have begun negotiations with Wycombe Wanderers over the potential signing of Nigerian forward Dominic Udoh ahead of the summer transfer window.

The English Championship side has been closely monitoring the 28-year-old and is keen to secure a deal that would see him complete the current season with Wycombe before making the move to Turf Moor in June.

Burnley looking to finalize deal early

Udoh, who joined Wycombe last summer from Shrewsbury Town on a three-year contract, has been a key figure for the League One side.

Burnley is eager to wrap up negotiations swiftly to avoid competition from other suitors.

According to sources close to the deal, Burnley has tabled an initial offer of £850,000 (€1.02 million), a sum that could tempt Wycombe despite their ambitions for promotion to the Championship.

A source within Udoh’s management agency confirmed ongoing discussions between the two clubs.

We are in direct contact with Burnley and Wycombe over a deal for Dominic (Udoh).

Wycombe have been receptive but are cautious about distractions around him, as they believe he is focused on helping the team gain promotion.

Burnley are serious and have made an initial offer of £850,000, which is tempting for Wycombe.

It is too early to say what will happen, but all parties are in contact, that is for sure,” the source revealed.

Udoh’s impact at Wycombe

A versatile attacker capable of playing across the front line, Udoh has been a standout performer for Wycombe this season.

In 38 appearances across all competitions, he has registered eight goals and three assists, further solidifying his reputation as a reliable attacking option.

His move to Wycombe followed a successful five-year spell at Shrewsbury Town, where he played 181 games, scoring 41 goals and providing 18 assists.

Prior to that, he spent time with various lower-division English clubs, including AFC Telford United, Crewe Alexandra, Solihull Moors, Leamington, Chester, Ilkeston Town, and Worcester City.

International career and future prospects

Though Udoh has yet to earn a senior cap for Nigeria, he has been called up to the Super Eagles squad on three occasions between 2023 and 2024.

He has also represented Nigeria at youth level, featuring for the country’s U-17 and U-20 teams.

If Burnley successfully completes the transfer, Udoh will have the opportunity to test himself at a higher level in the Championship, with the possibility of Premier League football in the near future.

For now, however, his focus remains on helping Wycombe’s push for promotion before potentially making the move to Turf Moor in the summer.
