Burkina Faso international goalkeeper Hervé Koffi is on the verge of joining SCO Angers on loan from RC Lens, with both clubs having reached a full agreement for the transfer.
According to reports by Mohamed Toubache-Ter, discussions between the two French sides have progressed smoothly in recent days.
Angers, seeking to bolster their goalkeeping department, approached Lens with a proposal to bring Koffi in on a temporary basis.
The northern club, no longer counting on the 27-year-old as a key part of their plans, responded positively to the inquiry.
The agreement will see Angers assume part of the player’s salary during the loan spell.
All contractual details have reportedly been finalised, with only the official signature left to confirm the deal.
Koffi, for his part, is said to have given his approval and is eager for the move.
Koffi, a native of Bobo-Dioulasso, joined Lens with ambitions of becoming the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.
However, his path has been blocked by the arrival of a new number one, limiting him to just eight appearances across all competitions.
Despite being under contract with Lens until 2028, the Burkinabe shot-stopper has seen his prospects dwindle and has been searching for a chance to revive his career.
For Angers, the impending arrival of Koffi comes at a crucial time, as current goalkeeper Yahia Fofana continues to attract interest from rival clubs.
Koffi’s profile—a commanding presence with international experience and strong reflexes—makes him a suitable candidate to step into the role, either as a replacement or strong competition.
This move offers a fresh start for Koffi, who has represented Burkina Faso at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and remains a vital figure for his national team.
The loan to Angers is seen as an opportunity for him to gain consistent playing time and reaffirm the talent that once made him a promising prospect on the continent.
Valued at €1.2 million, Koffi earns an annual salary of approximately €720,000 (around 468 million FCFA).
The deal is expected to be finalised in the coming hours, as all parties prepare to complete the final formalities.
For both Angers and Koffi, the deal represents a chance to address immediate needs—with the former aiming to strengthen its squad and the latter looking to rebuild momentum in his club career.
