Tsanko Tsvetanov, the coach of the Bulgarian club Etar Veliko Tarnovo, has been dismissed for the third time this season by his team. The initial termination occurred after a 1-0 defeat against Beroe Stara Zagora in August, followed by another one-goal defeat against Pirin Gotse Delchev in September. Despite being reinstated after protests from the club’s fans, Tsvetanov faced his third dismissal on Monday.
A former international and a favorite among the public, the 42-year-old coach led Etar to the top after 14 years in lower divisions. However, his recent firing is attributed to “indecent remarks towards the Turkish owner of the club, Feyzi Ilhanli, and actions damaging to the honor of the club,” according to a club press release.
Earlier last month, the president of Etar accused Tsvetanov of involvement in match-fixing cases, leading to an investigation by the Bulgarian Prosecutor into suspicious matches. Tsvetanov vehemently denied any such involvement at that time.
