Ola Aina has issued a rallying cry to Nottingham Forest fans following his contract extension, urging them to “buckle up and enjoy the ride” as the club gears up for another ambitious campaign.
The Nigerian international signed a new deal on Monday, committing his future to Forest until 2028.
Aina, 28, was a standout performer for Forest in the 2024–25 season, making 37 appearances across all competitions.
His consistent displays under manager Nuno Espirito Santo helped the club secure a seventh-place Premier League finish and a run to the FA Cup semi-finals — achievements that also secured European football for the first time in decades.
Speaking to Forest TV, Aina said extending his stay was an easy decision.
“It’s a fantastic club, it’s a bit of me really, so it was a no-brainer to continue the journey,” he said.
“The club hasn’t been in Europe for a while, so to be part of the team that has finally done that is very special. It’s a challenge we’re all relishing to get underway.”
Aina also praised the club’s vision and leadership. “The ambition of the club is very high. It starts from our owner and sets high standards for the club, the staff, and players.”
His renewal follows similar deals for key figures like Murillo, Chris Wood, and fellow defender Nico Williams, as Forest continue to solidify their core ahead of another demanding season.
Looking ahead, Aina is confident Forest will continue building on last season’s momentum.
“Over the next three years, there’ll definitely be progression and hopefully we can get our hands on something,” he added. “We’re probably going to go on another crazy journey, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.”
