Cameroonian forward, Bryan Mbeumo, played a pivotal role in Brentford’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday, inspiring his side to an important English Premier League win.
Brentford had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock in the 61st minute when they were awarded a penalty after Maxence Lacroix was penalized for a foul. Mbeumo stepped up but saw his effort crash against the left post. However, fortune favoured the Bees as the referee ordered a retake.
This time, Mbeumo made no mistake, confidently slotting the ball into the right side of the net beyond Dean Henderson.
Brentford doubled their advantage in the 80th minute when Mikkel Damsgaard delivered a well-placed lofted pass into the box. Kevin Schade rose highest to meet it, guiding his close-range header past Henderson for a 2-0 lead.
Crystal Palace pulled one back in the 85th minute after Daniel Muñoz unselfishly teed up Romain Esse, who fired a precise shot off the bottom of the left post and into the net. However, Brentford held firm to claim all three points.
With his goal on Sunday, Bryan Mbeumo now boasts 14 goals and three assists in 23 Premier League appearances this season, further cementing his status as one of Brentford’s key attacking threats.
