Brighton strikes Sheffield with a 5-goal blitz with contribution of Adengra
Brighton’s first football team capitalized on Englishman Mason Holgate’s early dismissal from Sheffield United, hitting their net with five clean goals on Sunday in the 25th round of the English Premier League.
Holgate was shown the red card in the 13th minute following a harsh tackle on Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma, leaving his team to play the rest of the match with ten players.
Brighton seized the numerical advantage against the home side and scored two goals through Argentine Fakundo Boonanoti in the 20th minute and Danny Welbeck in the 24th minute of the first half.
In the second half, Sheffield United’s defender Jack Robinson accidentally scored an own goal in the 75th minute, before Ivorian forward Simon Adengra added a brace in the 78th and 85th minutes.
This defeat marks Sheffield’s sixth loss in their last nine matches.
Meanwhile, Brighton secured their first away win in seven matches, placing seventh with 38 points.
