Brighton sign Chema Andres from Stuttgart and complete Femi Azeez deal

Brighton have signed Spanish Under-21 international Chema Andres from Stuttgart for £15.5m and completed a permanent deal for Millwall winger Femi Azeez on transfer deadline day.

Andres, 21, has agreed a five-year contract with the Premier League club after spending only one season in Germany. The defensive midfielder joined Stuttgart from Real Madrid in 2025, having developed through the Spanish club’s youth system.

He made his La Liga debut in January 2025 before moving to Stuttgart, where he quickly became an established member of the first-team squad. Andres made 41 appearances for the German club last season and helped them qualify for the Champions League.

Brighton’s move for Andres adds another young midfielder to their squad as the club continue to recruit players with experience at major European clubs. The agreement with Stuttgart was completed on deadline day, bringing the Spain Under-21 player to the Premier League after just one campaign in the Bundesliga.

The Seagulls have also reached an agreement to sign Azeez from Millwall on a permanent basis. The initial fee for the 25-year-old is understood to be £12.5m, while the total value of the deal could rise above £15m if performance-related add-ons are met.

Azeez earns Premier League move after standout season

Azeez enjoyed an impressive campaign for Millwall last season, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 37 appearances. His performances were recognised with selection in the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

The Nigeria international had been determined to secure a move to the Premier League, but negotiations between the two clubs proved difficult. Millwall rejected at least three offers from Brighton in recent weeks before the London club finally agreed to the transfer.

Azeez’s arrival gives Brighton another wide attacking option following his productive season in the Championship. His 19 goal contributions helped him earn recognition among the division’s leading players and attracted interest from the Premier League.

Both deals were concluded on the final day of the transfer window, with Brighton agreeing significant financial packages for players who featured prominently for their previous clubs last season. Andres arrives after helping Stuttgart reach the Champions League, while Azeez moves to the top flight after being named in the Championship’s team of the year.

The two signings represent Brighton’s latest additions ahead of the new campaign, with Andres contracted for five years and Azeez joining from Millwall on a permanent transfer.
