Azzedine Ounahi could soon be calling the Premier League home, with Brighton making strong moves to sign the Moroccan midfielder in this summer’s transfer window.
French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Brighton has started direct discussions with Ounahi, who is keen to join the club. The final step is reaching an agreement with Olympique Marseille, where the midfielder is still under contract.
Ounahi signed with Marseille in January 2023 after starring for Morocco in their historic World Cup run to the semi-finals.
Ounahi spent last season on loan at Panathinaikos and impressed throughout the campaign. He was voted Player of the Season by fans but the Greek side could not trigger his €11.5 million purchase clause.
Despite his performances, Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi has reportedly made it clear that Ounahi is not part of his plans for the upcoming season. That has pushed the midfielder to seek a new club where he can play regularly.
A move to Brighton would mark his Premier League debut and a fresh chapter in his career.
