Brighton agree deal with Millwall to sign Nigeria forward Femi Azeez

Nigeria forward Femi Azeez is closing in on a move to Brighton & Hove Albion after the Premier League club agreed a deal with Millwall for the highly-rated winger.

Brighton have agreed to pay an initial £12.5 million for the 25-year-old, with the total package expected to exceed £15m if additional clauses are triggered.

The proposed transfer could make Azeez the most expensive sale in Millwall’s history, surpassing Romain Esse’s £14m move to Crystal Palace last year.

Azeez is expected to undergo a medical at Brighton ahead of completing the deadline-day transfer, with the winger set to sign a four-year contract. The agreement will also include an option for Brighton to extend his stay by a further year.

The move represents a major step forward in Azeez’s career, with the winger determined to finally realise his ambition of playing in the Premier League.

Azeez chose Brighton

The former Reading player attracted interest from several clubs but has prioritised Brighton as he looks to secure a move to England’s top flight.

His preference for the Amex Stadium has helped drive the deal forward, with Brighton now closing in on an agreement that would see him make the jump from the Championship to the Premier League.

Azeez joined Millwall from Reading in August 2024 for a fee believed to be around £1m and still has two years remaining on his contract.

Millwall are therefore poised to make a significant profit on the winger, who has established himself as one of the Championship’s most influential attacking players since arriving at The Den.

Award-winning Championship campaign

Azeez’s performances during the 2025-26 season played a major role in attracting Premier League attention.

The winger scored 11 goals and registered seven assists, earning a place in the PFA Championship Team of the Season.

His combination of pace, direct running and attacking output has made him one of the division’s standout wide players, while his consistency over the campaign strengthened his case for a move to the top flight.

Brighton’s decision to invest heavily in Azeez reflects their belief that his qualities can translate to the Premier League.
