Brentford are eyeing Ipswich Town’s Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who is on the radar of Manchester United ahead of a possible summer switch.
The West London club are preparing to strengthen their attack should Mbeumo leave, and have identified Hutchinson as a key target.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Brentford are showing early interest but have yet to open official talks with Ipswich.
“Brentford are showing initial interest in Omari Hutchinson as possible replacement for Bryan Mbeumo in case of exit with Man Utd on it,” Romano posted.
“Brentford appreciate Hutchinson but no club-to-club talks yet with Ipswich Town.”
Hutchinson impressed at Portman Road during the 2023/24 season, initially joining on loan from Chelsea before making his move permanent.
The 21-year-old became a regular starter under Kieran McKenna and is reported to have a £35 million release clause in his contract.
With Mbeumo expected to fetch between £50-£60 million if a deal with Manchester United materialises, Brentford could have the funds available to meet Hutchinson’s valuation and reinvest in other areas.
Ipswich, who were relegated back to the Championship, have only sold striker Liam Delap so far this window. However, McKenna may be forced to consider further departures, including Hutchinson, as top-flight clubs circle.
Hutchinson’s youth, versatility, and technical ability make him a promising long-term replacement for Mbeumo, whose departure from Brentford appears increasingly likely.
