The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Muhoroni Youth FC, a prominent and top-flight club in Kenya, after finding them guilty of engaging in activities that compromised the integrity of football competitions.
In an official media release, FIFA stated: “Kenyan club Muhoroni Youth have been found guilty of activities related to the manipulation of football matches and competitions, and the club’s senior team have consequently been expelled from the Football Kenya Federation National Super League.”
This strong action underscores FIFA’s zero-tolerance policy toward corruption in the sport, a principle the governing body has consistently emphasized.
In addition to their expulsion, FIFA further ordered:
“The relegation of the Muhoroni Youth senior team to the Football Kenya Federation Division One League ahead of next season.”
This dual punishment reflects the gravity of the offence and serves as a stern warning to other clubs that integrity must be upheld at all levels.
For Muhoroni Youth, once seen as a symbol of rising football talent in the region, this decision marks a dark chapter in their history.
The club now faces the daunting task of rebuilding not just their sporting credentials but their reputation both locally and internationally.
The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has contacted the Football Kenya Federation to ensure the implementation of preventative plans with a view to combating the manipulation of football matches and competitions.
The club have today been notified of the decision, which may be appealed before the FIFA Appeal Committee.
The club have ten days to request the grounds of the decision.
As stated in its Statutes, one of FIFA’s core objectives is to promote the integrity of football. As such, FIFA has adopted an effective approach towards the fight against all forms of manipulation.
FIFA provides a dedicated, highly secure, and web-based whistleblowing system so that individuals can report any form or knowledge of potential match manipulation or integrity-related misconduct.
