Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior has not yet signed his contract extension with the club, despite expectations that the deal was close to completion, according to a report by El Chiringuito TV.
Discussions between the player’s representatives and the club remain ongoing, with final details still to be resolved.
Vinicius, who is of Cameroonian heritage, is currently tied to Real Madrid until 2027.
However, both parties have been negotiating a longer-term deal aimed at securing the Brazilian’s future in Madrid amid continued interest from other clubs.
Journalist Josep Pedrerol offered insight into the situation: “It was almost done, almost settled…
“When they return from the Club World Cup, they want to solve it. He hasn’t signed it yet, but there won’t be any problems. It’s just a matter of ironing out the final points.”
The 24-year-old has reportedly turned down lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian clubs, underlining his commitment to remaining at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The proposed extension would significantly improve his terms, with a reported annual salary of nearly €20 million, potentially making him the highest-paid player in the squad.
Vinicius has become a central figure in Real Madrid’s attack and a fan favourite, particularly following his performances in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
The club views the new contract not only as a financial reward but also as a clear signal of trust in his long-term role at the club.
The extension is expected to be finalised once Madrid conclude their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup.
