As Africa Top Sports reported, Brazil is preparing really well for its next World Cup. After the 3-0 against France a few days ago, they have just beaten Japan by the same score for the first official match of the 2013 Confederations Cup.
Neymar, the new star of FC Barcelona, who had not scored in nine matches for the selection, reassured fans by scoring a sumptuous goal. In the first match of the competition, Neymar showcased his class, allowing Brazil to secure a 3-0 victory against Japan. The former Santos player opened the scoring with a magnificent volley following a chest pass from Fred.
With this impressive performance, Brazil solidifies its status as the big favorite for the upcoming World Cup. The earlier pessimistic comments from Pelé seem to be contradicted by the team’s recent success. Pelé had expressed concerns about the team, saying, “It seems that a 10 is currently missing, and we are having difficulty finding what a Romario, a Vava, a Careca could be at the forefront of the attack. This Cup and the year we have left can allow us to prepare a good team for the World Cup, without a doubt. They have six or seven players playing in Europe; it’s a team that plays well, runs well, and as it’s the first match, Brazil shouldn’t be too sure of themselves. You will, therefore, have to have a lot of patience.”
