Brahim Diaz is facing a pivotal moment in his Real Madrid career, with the club’s aggressive move for RB Leipzig forward Diomande threatening to reshape the Spanish side’s attacking hierarchy and significantly reduce the Moroccan’s playing time.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid have made the 19-year-old Ivory Coast talent a priority signing and want to close a deal as quickly as possible. Leipzig have already turned down an initial offer of €100m, and Real are now considering increasing their bid in an attempt to convince the Bundesliga club to sell.

Mourinho counts on Diaz – but Diomande deal could change landscape

Diaz, 26, is currently part of Jose Mourinho’s plans and the Real Madrid hierarchy are working on extending his contract. However, the possible arrival of Diomande is seen as a move that could “change the equation completely”, with the new signing expected to compete directly for minutes in the attacking positions.

That scenario would likely cut Diaz’s game time “significantly” and could force the Morocco international to reassess his future at the Santiago Bernabeu. Argentinian forward Mastantono, 18, is described as being “certain” to leave on loan should Diomande arrive, despite Mourinho previously opposing such a move. The teenager’s exit is now seen as inevitable to free up space in the squad and ensure he continues his development elsewhere.

The future of 22-year-old striker Gonzalo is also said to be in jeopardy. Mourinho is reported to have blocked his departure at the end of last season, effectively saving him from an exit, but the pursuit of Diomande has once again cast doubt over his long-term prospects in Madrid.

Endrick and Rodrygo also affected

Brazilian forward Endrick, 20, who has returned from a loan spell at Lyon, would also be directly impacted by Diomande’s potential arrival. Mourinho had been considering using him on the right wing, but the addition of another young forward capable of operating across the front line could sharply reduce Endrick’s opportunities in that role.

Rodrygo, 25, is another high-profile name whose status could be challenged. The Brazilian is currently recovering from injury and is not expected back on the pitch until the start of next year. While he has been a regular presence in Real Madrid’s attack, increased competition brought by Diomande’s signing could make his route back into the starting XI more complicated once he returns to fitness.
