Real Madrid player Brahim Diaz stressed the importance of his presence at the Moroccan national team’s training camp despite the injury that will officially rule him out of the friendly.
The promising attacker was substituted during Madrid’s final game of the season against Real Sociedad in the 55th minute.
Diaz has been replaced by AS FAR midfielder Amine Zahzouh for the games.
“I’m here despite my injury because I’m with people I love, where I feel appreciated even if I’m not playing, and circumstances like that are rare,” Diaz said in an interview.
“Imagine how happy and relieved I feel, even after being told it’s impossible to play. The reason is that love prevails among everyone, and the players and the technical staff treat me with respect.
“My presence also has its own reason, which is the Moroccan fans who never fail to shower me with love and warmth. I am grateful to them, and every time I come here, I become more certain that playing for Morocco was the best decision I have ever made. The atmosphere is wonderful and the players are determined to win,” he added.
Morocco will face Tunisia on Friday, June 6, before taking on Benin on Monday, June 9. The matches are part of the build-up to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations on home soil.
