Bradley Grobler reunites with Gavin Hunt after joining Stellenbosch FC

Bradley Grobler has joined Stellenbosch FC on a one-year contract with the option of an additional season, reuniting the veteran striker with head coach Gavin Hunt.

The 37-year-old’s move brings an end to uncertainty over his future after he left Sekhukhune United at the conclusion of last season. Stellenbosch FC have turned to one of the Premier Soccer League’s most experienced and prolific forwards as they prepare for a demanding campaign involving both domestic and continental football.

Grobler is returning to work with Hunt, who previously managed him at SuperSport United. Their time together in Tshwane produced some of the most productive years of the striker’s career, with Hunt relying on Grobler’s movement in the penalty area and his instinctive finishing.

Under Hunt, Grobler established himself as one of the Premier Soccer League’s most consistent goalscorers. His arrival at Stellenbosch FC gives the club an experienced attacking option and adds further depth to an ambitious squad being assembled for the new season.

Grobler is the latest recruit in a busy transfer window for the Winelands club. Stellenbosch FC have also signed Ashley Du Preez, Given Msimango, Gopolang Taunyana, Kgaogelo Ramushu, Avuzwa Mmember, Surprise Nhlabathi and Keanan Johannesen.

The club will hope Grobler’s proven record in front of goal can complement those additions as they balance the demands of domestic competition with their continental commitments.

Although he is in the latter stage of his playing career, Grobler remains among the Premier Soccer League’s most accomplished strikers. He has scored 159 top-flight goals, a total that places him among the competition’s greatest-ever scorers.

His move to Stellenbosch FC provides him with another opportunity to add to that tally and continue moving up the league’s all-time goalscoring standings.

The striker’s value may extend beyond his performances in front of goal. His experience of top-level football and his long record of scoring in the Premier Soccer League could also make him an important mentor for Stellenbosch FC’s younger attacking players.
