Bournemouth’s Ivorian midfielder, Hamed Junior Traore, is set to be sidelined for an extended period after contracting malaria following his international duty with the national team in November, as revealed by the Daily Mail.
The 23-year-old, who returned from international duty, has been undergoing treatment and has been discharged from the hospital.
However, he continues to grapple with the aftermath of the illness and will undergo further tests to ensure his full recovery.
Traore, who joined Bournemouth on loan from Sassuolo in January before completing a permanent move in the summer, will continue his recovery at home.
The exact date for his return to action has not been specified. Unfortunately, this means he has been excluded from the Ivory Coast national team’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, commencing on January 13.
The midfielder has been absent from Bournemouth’s lineup since appearing as a substitute in the draw against Aston Villa on December 3.
His last match before joining the national team was in the League Cup against Liverpool, where Bournemouth suffered a 2-1 defeat.
Hamed Junior Traore’s journey with Bournemouth began as a loanee from Italian side Sassuolo in January, later securing a permanent transfer last summer.
The setback due to malaria interrupts what had been a positive stint for Traore, who has showcased his skills in the English club’s midfield.
The football community wishes him a swift recovery as he battles the effects of the illness.
