Bouchaib El Moubarki set to join fellow Moroccan Mohamed Amine Benhachem on Modern Sport coaching staff

Modern Sport have reached a final agreement for Moroccan coach Bouchaib El Moubarki to join the backroom staff as assistant to compatriot Mohamed Amine Benhachem ahead of the new season.

The Egyptian Premier League side recently appointed former Wydad Casablanca boss Benhachem as head coach and have now moved to strengthen his technical team with a figure he knows well.

According to Moroccan outlet Hesport, all terms have been settled for El Moubarki to become part of Modern Sport’s new coaching set-up, with the deal coming on the direct recommendation of Benhachem.

The report states that Benhachem pushed for El Moubarki’s arrival based on his first-hand knowledge of the 44-year-old’s qualities and experience.

Former Morocco international

El Moubarki is a former Morocco international who enjoyed a notable playing career in North Africa and the Gulf region before moving into coaching after retirement.

During his time as a player he represented Raja Casablanca in his homeland, as well as Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli and Qatari side Al Rayyan.

Following the end of his playing days, El Moubarki moved into technical and coaching roles, building a reputation that has now led to his first role in Egyptian football alongside Benhachem.

Benhachem replaces Ahmed Samy

Benhachem will take charge of Modern Sport from the start of next season, succeeding former head coach Ahmed Samy.

The club opted to make a change in the dugout after a difficult domestic campaign, in which Modern Sport only managed to secure 14th place in the Egyptian league table by the end of the relegation play-off phase.

The Cairo-based side are looking to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles and hope a fresh Moroccan-led coaching team can push the club towards greater stability.

Pre-season starts with big win

Modern Sport have already begun their preparations for the upcoming campaign under Benhachem’s leadership.

The team opened pre-season with a resounding 6-1 victory over Al Qanater Al Khayreya, underlining a positive start to life under their new coach.

Before that, Modern Sport had beaten Al Nasr Lel Tadeen 2-1 in another warm-up fixture as the squad begin to adapt to Benhachem’s methods.

The arrival of El Moubarki is expected to complete the core of the new technical staff, with Modern Sport banking on the partnership between the two Moroccans to help steer the club clear of another relegation battle and lay the foundations for a more secure campaign.
