It appears that Boubacar Issoufou, the second top scorer who played a crucial role in qualifying Niger for the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2013, has returned to his home country. After the end of his contract in Thailand, Issoufou has joined the Olympique de Niamey club. The midfielder, who was part of the Niger squad at CAN 2012 in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, is familiar with the local championship, having previously played for ASFAN, an army team.
Despite being only 22 years old, Issoufou had ventured abroad in 2010, signing with FC Phuket in Thailand. However, it seems that this international experience was relatively short-lived, leading to his return to Niger. Since coming back to the country, Issoufou has continued his involvement in the national team, known as the Menas, as demonstrated by his participation in a friendly match against Morocco a week ago.
His return to Olympique de Niamey suggests a new chapter in his domestic football career, and fans will likely be eager to see how he contributes to the local league and the national team in the future.
