Borussia Dortmund are seeking to retain English-Nigerian midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka after his loan spell with the club.

The 21-year-old struggled for playing time at the beginning of the season, leading to his departure in the January transfer window.

Since joining Dortmund in the winter window, Chukwuemeka has managed just seven appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring just a goal across the period.

Despite not commanding a starting role, Dortmund are seeking to retain the midfielder for the next season.

However, Dortmund is not prepared to activate the buyout option for 30 million euros, but they are negotiating with Chelsea to extend the loan for another year.

The talented midfielder has made 10 appearances across competitions for the Bundesliga giants, scoring one goal in the process.

Despite featuring for England at youth level, Chukwuemeka is still eligible to represent Niugeria at the international level.
