Borussia Dortmund planing to offload German-Cameroonian striker Youssoufa Moukoko in the summer

Patrick Mevoungou weighs in on Youssoufa Moukoko controversy

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly preparing to part ways with striker Youssoufa Moukoko this summer as his loan spell at OGC Nice comes to an end.

The 20-year-old forward of Cameroonian descent, who was loaned out last summer with a purchase option set at €18 million, has struggled for playing time in Ligue 1, leading to doubts about whether Nice will activate that option.

Head coach Franck Haise has expressed skepticism regarding Moukoko’s future with the French club, further complicating his situation.

As Moukoko returns to Dortmund after his loan, he remains under contract until the summer of 2026. However, it appears that his prospects at BVB are dim.

Reports from Bild indicate that the club’s management is keen to remove Moukoko from their wage bill as soon as possible.

With an annual salary of €8.5 million, Moukoko ranks among Dortmund’s highest earners, but his lack of impact on the pitch has prompted sporting director Sebastian Kehl to prioritize his exit.

Moukoko’s time at Dortmund has been marred by inconsistent performances and injury troubles, preventing him from establishing himself as a key player within the squad.

The striker’s inability to capitalize on his potential has led the club to reconsider his role moving forward. As the summer transfer window approaches, Dortmund is expected to explore options for selling or loaning Moukoko to free up financial resources and make way for new signings.
