Zvonimir Boban: “Pogba Needs to Stop Imitating Zidane and Play His Own Game”
Former AC Milan legend Zvonimir Boban has offered a blunt assessment of Paul Pogba, urging the Juventus midfielder to stop trying to emulate Zinedine Zidane and instead focus on playing a simpler, more effective style of football.
Following Juventus’ disappointing 2-2 draw against Cesena, Boban criticized several of the Bianconeri’s key players. “The Bianconeri played a match below their standards,” he said, pointing fingers at underperformers like Bonucci and Vidal.
He reserved particular advice for Pogba:
“He must stop playing like Zidane. Because he will never be Zidane—or at least, he is not yet. He is young, has a great future ahead of him, but he must play in a less presumptuous way and try to be more efficient.”
While acknowledging Pogba’s immense talent and potential, Boban insisted that the young Franco-Guinean should carve his own path rather than model himself after legends too soon.
The comments come at a time when Pogba is heavily linked with Europe’s biggest clubs, and expectations surrounding his development continue to soar.
