South African midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines following an injury setback.
The 24-year-old suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), ruling out of action for several months. Having been ruled for the remainder of the season, Rasebotja is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery.
He is expected to be out of action for six to nine months, suggesting Rasebotja may not return to action until early 2026.
Since joining Pirates from SuperSport United at the start of the season, the midfielder has seen limited playing time, making only 11 appearances across all competitions—mostly as a substitute.
“This isn’t how I envisioned ending the season, but God’s plan is greater. Though heartbroken by the ACL injury, I’m thankful the surgery went well. Now, my focus shifts to recovery and rehabilitation.” He wrote on social media after surgery.
The midfielder then extended gratitude to supporters, adding, “Your encouraging messages mean everything to me. Thank you all for the love and support.”
The injury leaves Pirates without the midfielder’s services as they navigate the remainder of their fixtures.
