Gianelli Imbula, no longer a starter for Marseille, also finds himself excluded from the upcoming matches with the French Espoirs Team. Surprisingly, his absence is not attributed to his on-field performance but rather to his behavior during the last team gathering.
Willy Sagnol, the coach of the Bleuets, clarifies that it’s not a sporting decision or sanction based on Imbula’s reduced playing time at his club. Instead, Sagnol expresses disappointment with the player’s conduct during the recent training session.
“These are not sporting reasons, it is not a sporting sanction. The fact that Giannelli is playing less at the moment for the club did not influence my decision. I said at the end of the course that some lost points. This is the case. I believe that during the last training session he did not behave in a manner worthy of a player who wears the blue jersey. This extremely disappointed me,” explains Sagnol in the columns of L’Équipe without wanting to say more. “This will remain between us,” he concludes.
