Blessing Nkor expressed immense joy following her debut for Nigeria’s Super Falcons in their 2-1 loss to France in a friendly match on Saturday. The 21-year-old midfielder, who represents Gaziantep Asya Spor in Turkey, started for Nigeria in what was also her first call-up to the national team.
Nkor played the full 90 minutes of the hard-fought encounter, which saw the Super Falcons concede two goals to the French team.
Despite the defeat, Nkor was involved in Nigeria’s only goal, assisting Ifeoma Onumonu in finding the back of the net late in the first half.
Taking to social media after the match, Nkor shared her excitement and gratitude. “It is a dream come true for me to play for my country at this level,” she wrote on her X account.
“Thank you to God Almighty, Falcon Super NG, the coaching staff, and the entire system for this honour and privilege.
Thank you to everyone who supports me, I love you from the bottom of my heart.”
The match was a significant milestone in Nkor’s career, marking the beginning of what many hope will be a successful tenure with Nigeria’s most celebrated women’s football team.
