Bernès, a prominent agent representing football stars, had initiated legal action against Matuidi after the latter decided to switch agents and join forces with the Italian agent Mino Raiola.
In an interview with Sport 365, Bernès expressed his perspective on the matter: “The war is over. Mino Raiola, I don’t know him at all, he’s an agent, he does his job… He’s an Italian agent who has a Dutch license and is based in Monaco. Matuidi? I didn’t get into a fight, but I think I did a lot for him when he left Saint-Etienne. Things meant that he preferred to work with Raiola, it’s a lifestyle choice. There was an agreement with the player, an agreement which is confidential and which only concerns us. I think everyone in life has the right to choose who they want to work with. It’s like in couples: when you want to separate, you separate. So a player has the right to change, but sometimes it’s the form that is not perfect.”
With this statement, Bernès signals the resolution of the dispute and acknowledges Matuidi’s right to choose his representation, likening the situation to personal relationships where individuals have the freedom to make their own decisions.
