South African giants Orlando Pirates can heave a sigh of relief as talisman Monnapule Saleng is set for a sensational return to the team after four-months absence.
The 27-year-old has not featured for Orlando Pirates since December 2024 due to contractual issues. But Saleng is reportedly set for an imminent return to action following his return to training.
Saleng is preparing for a return in the final part of the current campaign. However, his physical condition after a long break should be taken into account.
As reported earlier by Africasoccer.com, Orlando Pirates have been engaging the 27-year-old in an attempt to renew his contract at the club. However, contract renewal talks stalled due to the player’s salary demands, which Pirates have yet to accept.
Since joining the club in 2021, Saleng has established himself as a key cog to Orlando Pirates.
The 27-year-old attacker has made just 13 appearances across competitions this season for Pirates, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
Orlando Pirates currently hold second place in the South African Premier League standings, amassing 46 points after 20 rounds. The team has three games in hand, trailing the leader by 12 points.
Additionally, the Pirates defeated Marumo Gallants in the South African Cup semi-final and advanced to the final. Orlando also managed to beat MC Algiers and progressed to the CAF Champions League semi-final.
