Kenya head coach Benni McCarthy has been dealt a big blow ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) as they are set to be without their lead striker.
This year’s CHAN tournament will be hosted across three countries, including Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
McCarthy has already named a provisional squad for the tournament, which includes Moses Shumah.
However, the Kenyan Premier League Golden Boot winner is now set to miss the tournament.
Shumah, who scored 17 goals last season, is now ineligible for CHAN as the tournament is only for home-based players.
The move will most likely be a headache for McCarthy, who had included Shumah in his squad this week.
Shumah, who was linked with a move to South Africa, has joined Zambian Premier League giants Power Dynamos ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 22-year-old striker has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Zambian outfit.
The Harambee Stars were drawn in Group A alongside Angola, DR Congo, Kenya and Zambia.
