The competition is fierce between the Egyptian club Al-Ahly and the Congolese club Tout Puissant Mazembe. Initially, Raja Casablanca seemed poised to surprise in this category. The Sfaxien Sports Club, established in 1912 and officially recognized by French authorities in 1928, has a rich history, winning eight championships, four Tunisian cups, three Confederation Cups (2007, 2008, 2013), one CAF Cup (1998), and two Champions Leagues (2000, 2004).

Al Ahly secured their eighth African Champions League title this season, surpassing Orlando Pirates.
Le Tout Puissant Mazembe (or Mazembe), a Congolese football club founded in 1939, has emerged as the largest sub-Saharan club with 13 Congolese championship titles, four CAF Champions League victories (1967, 1968, 2009, 2010), and participation in the Confederation Cup final this season. The club’s president, Moïse Katumbi, also serves as the Governor of the Katanga Province.
