Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu could be on the move in the upcoming winter transfer window, with Turkish giants Besiktas reportedly expressing interest in securing his services.
Onuachu’s current situation at Southampton has been far from ideal.
Despite being available for 14 matches across all competitions this season, the towering forward has only featured in six games, none of which were starts.
His limited playing time has sparked speculation about his future, with Besiktas closely monitoring the situation and preparing to make a move.
According to reports from Turkish media, Besiktas is determined to finalize the deal in January, aiming to bolster their attacking options.
Onuachu’s prior experience in Turkey, where he impressed during a loan spell at Trabzonspor last season, adds to his appeal for the Istanbul-based club.
While on loan with Trabzonspor, Onuachu delivered an exceptional performance, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists in just 21 Süper Lig appearances.
His prolific form demonstrated his ability to adapt to the league, making him an attractive option for Besiktas as they look to enhance their offensive firepower.
Southampton, however, has reportedly set a price tag of €13 million for the 29-year-old striker.
For Besiktas, meeting this valuation is not expected to pose a significant financial challenge.
Negotiations between the two clubs could progress swiftly, allowing Onuachu to return to Turkey, where he previously enjoyed success.
If the deal materializes, Onuachu would bring experience, physicality, and a proven track record to Besiktas, potentially providing the spark needed to achieve their ambitions in both domestic and international competitions.
