Beşiktaş have set their sights on signing Franck Kessié as they attempt to rescue their season following an early exit from the Europa League.

The Istanbul giants were eliminated in the second qualifying round by Shakhtar Donetsk, suffering a comprehensive 6-2 aggregate defeat, and are now turning their attention to securing a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

In response to glaring deficiencies in midfield, Beşiktaş have moved swiftly in the transfer market.

Turkish daily Fotomaç reports that the club’s management has prioritised the acquisition of Kessié, viewing the Ivorian international as a pivotal figure who can bring balance and authority to a midfield that has been found wanting.

Current options Amir Hadžiahmetović and Moatasem Al Musrati have struggled to meet expectations, prompting an urgent search for reinforcements.

Negotiations are already underway with Al Ahli SFC, where Kessié currently plies his trade.

The 28-year-old, who joined the Saudi Arabian side in 2023, is reportedly keen on returning to Europe.

Discussions have been initiated between the player and Al Ahli regarding a possible contract termination that would facilitate a summer move.

Beşiktaş have submitted a formal offer and are hopeful of securing his services in the coming weeks.

Kessié’s name continues to resonate strongly across Europe, with Serie A clubs AS Roma, Juventus, and Fiorentina all expressing interest in a potential move.

The former Atalanta midfielder, who also enjoyed a successful stint at AC Milan, is said to be considering his options carefully.

A return to Italy remains an attractive prospect, given his familiarity with the league and established reputation.

Nevertheless, Beşiktaş are determined to convince Kessié to anchor their midfield, offering him the opportunity to play a central role in their revival.

The Black Eagles believe that his leadership, experience, and physical presence could be the catalyst for a turnaround, both domestically and in Europe.

Kessié, whose current contract with Al Ahli runs until June 2026, is valued at €14 million, according to Transfermarkt.

In Saudi Arabia, he commands an annual salary of €14 million (approximately 9.1 billion FCFA), a financial package that could prove challenging for Beşiktaş to match.

However, the club’s hierarchy remains optimistic that a deal can be structured favourably, particularly if Kessié secures his release from Al Ahli.

For Beşiktaş, the pursuit of Franck Kessié represents not just a transfer move, but a statement of intent.

After a disappointing European campaign, the Black Eagles are banking on the Ivorian to provide the steel and composure necessary to reignite their season.
