Besiktas take early Europa League lead as Fakili breaks Marseille resistance

Besiktas moved in front against Olympique de Marseille in the 15th minute of their opening Ligue Europa match, sending Besiktas Park into celebration after an intense start in Istanbul.

Fakili finished accurately from Olaitan’s excellent pass to make it 1-0. The goal reflected Besiktas’s aggressive approach, with E. Agbadou receiving the first booking of the match in the 10th minute after an early series of strong challenges.

Olympique de Marseille were caught out by the speed of the attack and must improve their performance, particularly in midfield, if they are to respond quickly and prevent uncertainty from taking hold in Turkey.
